Emma Johnson Ortiz
Emma Johnson Ortiz started her career at the county assessors office in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Emma was the department’s mobile-home supervisor for 16 years and it was there that she decided to make public service her life. She was elected twice as Doña Ana County Assessor. After retiring, Emma was appointed by Governor Bill Richardson as the New Mexico’s Property Tax Director, then Deputy Director of the New Mexico Border Authority. She retired a second time as New Mexico’s Director for Region-7 Housing.
Although Emma was busy working for the citizens of New Mexico, her dedication and involvement in her community was never ending. She joined New Mexico Business Women and volunteered for 15 years with the Las Cruces Mariachi Conference. Emma also served as President and Vice President as well as a 6-year board member of the Downtown Partnership and past President of the New Mexico Assessors Affiliate and board member of New Mexico Association Of Counties. She is a former chair and vice chair of Democratic Party of New Mexico.
Currently Emma is a volunteer for New Mexico State Aggie Basketball and is a certified Real Estate Appraiser and holds her Real Estate License.
She has been married to her husband Gus for 43 years. They have 2 children, Valerie and Jason, and one granddaughter Jocelyn.
Rajeev is a writer, director, editor who began his adventures on a tiny island on the other side of the planet. He has a film degree from the UCLA School of Film and continued on to reading scripts at Universal and Dreamworks. He has directed two feature films, a music video, commercials, documentaries, and promotional work, winning several awards. His feature film The Odd Way Home screened at over ten national film festivals and distributed via DVD and online digital platforms. He teaches editing, documentary filmmaking, and cinematography at the Creative Media Film Institute at NMSU. He is a member of the Governors advisory board for film in New Mexico and on the board of directors for the Las Cruces Film organization.
Valvina Arsola Foy
Valvina A. Foy is a lifelong New Mexico resident. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business Management with a minor in Psychology. Valvina began her career working at Gila Regional Medical Center. She worked with the public and patients in various departments. In 1991, Valvina left Gila Regional Medical Center to go work at the law firm of Foy, Foy & Castillo, P.C. She assisted with cases in the Federal Courts in the District of New Mexico and State Courts of New Mexico with all matters and clients in all areas of criminal and civil law including but not limited to preparing documents, conducting investigations, litigation preparation and interpreter. Valvina has volunteered for various organizations in her community. In August of 1995, she was appointed to serve on the Gila Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees. Valvina served as the Gila Regional Medical Center Board of Trustees Chairperson from August 1997 thru June 2004. Governor Richardson appointed her to serve on the New Mexico Chihuahua Commission in 2004.
Currently, Valvina has been the office manager since 2005 for Jim Foy & Associates. Valvina is married. She has 2 children, a grandson and a granddaughter.
